On Assignment : Atlanta Track Club Races

Shot a couple races for the Atlanta Track Club a couple of weeks ago. The first race was "Atlanta's Finest 5k",  a run/walk benefitting the Crime Stoppers Atlanta, The Atlanta Police Foundations Scholarship Program and Atlantans Together Against Crime (ATAC).
The morning started with a kids race. I love the energy and motion captured in this shot as the kids crossed the finish line.

Atlanta Police Academy cadets showed up and ran the course in formation.

I went to the start of the race and was looking for unique angles. The "Start" signs were hanging from 2 large ladders and I was able to climb up and get an elevated view of start line.
You can see the ladders from this view. Once the race started, they runners got a police escort.
The officer waited at the end of the course as runners crossed the finish line.

The following week was the Atlanta Track Club's Grand Finale 5k Race and Awards Banquet. Since I was responsible for images on the course, I missed the start to reach the section of the course where I would be able to shoot runners from 2 directions.

I really like the colors and expression on this shot.

Once the course started to thin out, I headed back to Ansley Mall, where runners were treated to a really nice post race meal.

Awards were given out and volunteers were recognized for their hard work and dedication. The image above is a group shot of all the volunteers that give up their time to help put on some of the best races in Atlanta.

I also got this group shot of the Atlanta Track Club team. These guys are fast.

Had a great time and I'm proud to be involved with such a great organization that does so much for the running community. I was told that my images will be published in the next issue of Wingfoot. When I get a copy I'll post it here.
