Last week I got an e-mail informing me that not only did some of my images make it into Wingfoot, but one of them also made the cover.

Wingfoot is The Atlanta Track Club's full-color, monthly magazine and serves as a resource for metro-area running news, feature stories, calendars, race results, and photos highlighting club members and activities.


If you've followed this blog, you may remember that I shot the Atlanta Track Club Women's 5k back in March. It was my first time shooting for the Atlanta Track Club, so I was surprised that one of my images made the cover. When I was informed, I immediately knew which image made the cover.

Here's what Tracy Lott from The Atlanta Track Club had to say; "That was actually our favorite image from the race. It definitely makes for a great cover shot! (Not to mention, our sponsor, Adidas is absolutely going to love it)". Looks like all the practice I got between the trail race & the track meet paid off. I've got to say, some luck was involved as well. The runner, Andrea Lockhart, looked right at the camera, waved and I was able to capture the image at the perfect moment. Shooting with a 70-200 mm at f/2.8 allowed everyone behind her to go out of focus, so she's able to stand out in the image.

I also got a couple of other images inside. I got a total of six images including the cover for my first time shooting for The Atlanta Track Club. The rest of the images were by photographer Dutch Walters.

They do a fantastic job putting together the AJC Peachtree Road Race, the largest 10k in the country as well as many other local races.
