Help Portrait - Atlanta

This past Saturday December, 12th was the big day. Because we were dealing with privacy issues, there will be no images of families photographed on the blog. Besides, it's not about us as photographers and showing off our work. Here's a group photo of all the volunteers at the Georgian Hills location.

Stats: 337 portraits taken - 683 individual people were photographed - 157 Atlanta-Metro volunteers - 6 locations

Behind the scenes video after the jump.

First let me start off by saying that this was an extremely well organized event, considering the size and the amount of families that we were able to help out.

We arrived at the location at 9:45 and were to setup at the leasing office. The leasing agent didn't arrive until 10:30. The first family was scheduled at 10:30. We rushed in and setup 2 photographing stations. Great work by all the volunteers getting this setup quickly and we were able to start the process without any delays as the first family was also running a little late.

Families were scheduled 30 minutes apart and as we later found out that was more than enough time. We originally were supposed to have 4 stations. We also had some volunteers that were a no show. Luckily, we had the right people and enough equipment that it was a complete success. We easily could have handled twice as many families. I'm sure next year's event will be even bigger.

As we had some time between families, I was able to shoot some behind the scenes video of the volunteers.

We also took a group picture as you saw at the beginning of this post. As you can see, we had a good time.

I met some great new people and just confirmed that there is an incredible and giving community of photographers in Atlanta. I will definitely be a part of this again next year. It was an amazing feeling to see the reaction of kids and parents as we showed them the results of the photographs. If you weren't a part it this year, you missed out. Sign up and don't miss this incredible event.

We had a great group of site leaders that kept this event running smoothly. Great work Cat Gotti, Frank Lazaro, Megan Case and everyone else involved.
